What is our Mission?

The mission of the church is :
    • to give praise to God,
    • to open ourselves to God's love,
    • to hear and reflect on the Gospel,
    • to proclaim the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ,
    • to join with others in searching for God,
    • to encourage the development of faith, and
    • to serve God in the local community.

Worship

In worship we seek to answer God's call to renewal, to open our hearts and minds to the power of the Holy Spirit, to preserve those traditions that are meaningful to our lives today, and to maintain the dignity and reverence that is worthy of our gracious God, revealed in his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

    We will endeavour to:
    • broaden our understanding of the true meaning of worship
    • make our worship relevant to modem living through the appropriate use of language, technology, personnel and premises
    • promote consultation, and develop a variety of worship through all forms of expression, prayer, praise, music and meditation.

For details of the different forms of worship services available see Worship

Outreach

We seek to proclaim the love of God in Jesus Christ through all the activities, organisations and groups in the church.

The church supports a variety of agencies. For example:
    • The Methodist World Church and Home Missions.
    • Action for Children (formally NCH) and
    • Methodist Homes (for elderly people), and
    • other agencies like Christian Aid and Seaman's Missions.
Additionally, the church encourages fairly traded goods through Traidcraft.

Community

The church serves the local community through its well equipped premises and through providing suitable facilities for appropriate groups to use.

On Saturday mornings we host Community Coffee Mornings in the hall, where members of the local community can drop in for a coffee and chat while raising money for a variety of charitable causes.  See the What's On guide from the home page for further details.

The Uniformed Organisations and other groups using the premises welcome new members.

We have links with the nearby Friary Drop-in, at the United Reformed Church.
